The brewing trade in Kácov near Zruč nad Sázavou boasts a history going back to 1457. This makes the location one of the oldest focal points of the brewing industry in this country. For almost two centuries, the Kácov Brewery belonged to the ruling Habsburg dynasty. Nationalized after World War I, the brewery was closed down in 1957. Re-opened in 1993 thanks to the efforts of two entrepreneurs from Prague, the brewery remained in operation for several years. At the beginning of the third millennium the facility got a new lease of life. Renovating the brewery in stages, its current owner, the company of Pivovar Kácov Ltd., supplies the foamy beverage to his own small Šalanda Pub, situated in the brewery grounds, and many other catering establishments in the surrounding area as well as in Prague. The brewery`s product range includes a light drought beer, a light lager and a special thirteen-degree stout.
