In Chvatěruby in the Kralupy area, you will discover the imposing remains of an uncompleted chateau (with the traces of a Gothic castle) perched on a promontory above the River Vltava. Over the course of time, the aforementioned structures changed hands frequently, belonging to several prominent aristocratic families, including the Zajícs of Hazmburk and the Lobkowicz. The renovated part of the chateau is now home to a parsonage, where the writer V. B. Třebízský pursued a career as a priest. He dedicated a story entitled Chvatěrubský Turmoil to this place that was once conquered by monarch George of Poděbrady.
