Hiking in SummerIn the summer months the Krkonoše Mountains, a much frequented and very popular recreational resort, offer hiking enthusiasts of all ages a broad range of easily accessible, well-marked hiking and educational trails with a total length of more than 700 kilometres. Thanks to the Krkonoše Mountains' specific feature - a wealth of accommodation facilities located at higher ridge altitudes - visitors can acquaint themselves with the beauties of the area, so to speak, at close quarters and in comfort. A ride on a bobsleigh run (open all year round) in Špindlerův Mlýn, is undoubtedly a great experience for everybody, as is a ride by cableway up to Sněžka, or a climb through the Obří Důl valley to Sněžka or the lookout tower on the mountain Černá Hora.
The mountain range is practically a paradise for mountain bike enthusiasts since the majority of tourist centres in the foothills of the Krkonoše Mountains and access roads to the mountain saddles and peaks are closed to car traffic. Cycling trails are marked with wooden tablets. Having a high-quality mountain or trekking bike is a must here. Although you will have to peddle hard up many hills here, you will be rewarded by magnificent slopes falling steeply down to valleys and breathtaking views from mountain peaks or hillsides.
